Towanda, PA

Towanda, Pennsylvania sits along a sweeping bend of the Susquehanna River, framed by rolling hills and the historic landscapes that define the Endless Mountains region. As the county seat of Bradford County, Towanda blends small-town charm with deep historical roots—its downtown marked by ornate architecture, a classic courthouse square, and riverfront views that hint at its 19th-century prominence as a transportation and commercial hub. Today, Towanda feels both peaceful and purposeful: a community with walkable streets, family-run restaurants, and a scenic river corridor that draws anglers, paddlers, and cyclists alike. Its central location, surrounded by farmland, forest plateaus, and quiet backroads, makes it a natural base for outdoor exploration.

Towanda also serves as the launching point for three of the four Endless Mountains bikepacking routes—the EM115, EM250, and EM430. All three routes share the same opening miles as they roll out of town before splitting toward their respective adventures. The EM115 offers a scenic overnight loop that reaches Canton via farmland and gentle forest roads. The EM250 forms the western half of the full 430, taking riders deeper into state forest backcountry, long climbs, and ridge-top dirt. And the EM430 begins its full circuit here, tracing an epic loop around the entire region. Together, these routes cement Towanda as the heart of Endless Mountains bikepacking.
