Endless Mountains 430

435 miles | 42,144’ | 64% unpaved

The full flagship circuit of the heritage region, linking all major landscapes and towns into an epic multi-day expedition with everything Endless!

The Endless Mountains 430 is the route that started it all. What began as a single bikepacking route has grown into Endless Gravel PA—more than 2,000 miles of professionally designed gravel routes connecting the small towns, forests, farms, and history of northeastern Pennsylvania. If you want to experience everything the region has to offer, this is the signature ride.

Beginning in Towanda, the 430-mile loop circles the four counties of the Endless Mountains Heritage Region, connecting all 11 hub communities through an unending network of quiet back roads. Riders climb through Pennsylvania State Forests and Parks, descend into the Susquehanna River Valley, roll past historic railroad towns and towering stone viaducts, cross working farmland, and discover welcoming communities where local cafés, diners, and small businesses provide a warm welcome at the end of the day.

The roads are one of the route's greatest strengths. Expect hundreds of miles of smooth, well-maintained gravel with very little traffic (38-48mm tires recommended). But don't mistake smooth roads for an easy ride. These are the Endless Mountains, and the name is well earned. Rather than long mountain passes, the route serves up an endless series of short, steep climbs and fast descents that rarely allow the terrain to flatten out for long. Riders should arrive with low gearing, realistic expectations, and an appreciation for earning every overlook.

Resupply is generally available every 30–50 miles, making the route approachable without requiring expedition-level logistics. Both bikepacking and credit-card touring work well, with suggested itineraries available for camping or indoor lodging. Most campsites—both public and private—should be reserved in advance.

The best riding seasons are late spring and early fall, when cool temperatures combine with blooming wildflowers or brilliant autumn foliage. Summer offers long daylight hours but can bring heat and humidity, while winter typically means snow-covered roads.

If 430 hilly miles feels like more than you want to tackle, the route naturally breaks into several shorter, multi-day adventures. Ride the EM 250, Endless East 200, or the EM 115, to sample different corners of the region before returning for the full experience.

The name says it all: Endless Gravel. Endless Challenge. Endless Hospitality. The Endless Mountains 430 isn't simply a bikepacking route—it's an invitation to discover a region where every ridge reveals another view, every descent leads to another small town, and every day brings another unforgettable story.
