Dushore: Creekside Explorer
22.8 miles | 2,289’ | 54% unpaved
Ride through the forests and farmland surrounding Dushore, passing tannin-stained creeks, marshes, quiet gravel roads, and the iconic Jolly Trolley diner along the way.
Roll past swampy marshes, over creeks dark with tannins, and through dense tree tunnels on a short route that transports you to a Pennsylvania Adirondack landscape. Despite its length, this loop out of Dushore boasts numerous views of barns, farm animals, and dramatic landscapes carved by rivers and creeks. It also rides past a seldom-used airstrip. There are a couple of miles of No Winter Maintenance roads, and there is a bridge out at Mile 19. The bridge is scheduled to be replaced by October 2027, and there is a temporary girder bridge in place as of May 2026.
While it might not be the seat of Sullivan County, Dushore is home to the only stoplight in the entire county! On the corner of that intersection sits the Jolly Trolley. You’ll be forgiven if you mistake the building for a railcar, given its exterior design. The theme continues inside, where a model train snakes around the diner's ceiling, which looks like it’s straight out of the 1960s. Saddle up to the bar and order breakfast or lunch, but make sure to leave room for a slice of homemade pie. Before leaving, take a look around the store. As a classic variety shop, if you want or need anything, the Jolly Trolley is likely to have it.
