Explore eastern Endless Gravel PA on this 200-mile bikepacking adventure connecting Tunkhannock, the D&H Rail Trail, quiet gravel roads, scenic farmland, and welcoming towns.
This 200-mile journey through the eastern Endless Mountains weaves rugged climbs, quiet gravel, and welcoming towns into an unforgettable bikepacking adventure.
Starting in Tunkhannock, this bikepacking loop traces the eastern half of the Endless 430, winding through a patchwork of rolling farmland, quiet backroads, and forested hillsides. The five-day itinerary is designed for approachable daily distances (between 30 and 50 miles) while still offering a rewarding challenge with plenty of climbing and steep grades. Riders can choose from cozy indoor lodging each night (hotels, B&Bs, and rustic cabins) or opt for camping under the stars at several points along the route.
Geographically, the loop is framed by two defining features: the D&H Rail Trail running along its eastern edge, and the north branch of the Susquehanna River curving around to the northeast and southwest. While the terrain demands steady fitness, the surfaces themselves are not technical, making the route well-suited for both experienced bikepackers and adventurous riders new to multi-day gravel touring. With each day unfolding across pastoral valleys, ridge climbs, and the timeless rhythms of Pennsylvania countryside, this loop balances challenge and scenery in equal measure.
Before setting out, you're welcome to stop by the Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau in Tunkhannock. The staff can help answer questions about the region, provide local recommendations, and assist with arranging long-term parking for your multi-day adventure, helping you start your ride with confidence.
